Top Jewelry Trends of 2024 Every Woman Needs in Her Collection

jewelry

The world of jewelry is continuously evolving, and no matter how much everyone preaches about having a collection of classy pieces, it is always exciting to try new trends and complement your outfits with a shiny new thing. When it comes to trends, 2024 is a year of contrasts, ranging from minimalist bracelets to eccentric necklaces that are waiting for you to add them to your collection. Here are the hottest jewelry trends of this year that you need to know about.

Sleek Jewelry Minimalism

If you’re new to the realm of jewelry and you need something safe to start your journey with, you’ll be delighted to find out that sleek minimalism is one of the top trends of this year. With its clean lines, subtle elegance, and solid colors, minimalist jewelry is the perfect addition to any outfit regardless of the setting. Pieces such as delicate chain necklaces, stud earrings, and thin bracelets take center stage, and all you need to do is choose the best materials for you – gold, silver, or platinum – to enhance your looks and feel more confident than ever.

Maximalist Madness

On the complete opposite of the spectrum we have maximalism, a trend that challenges you to try out the craziest and most daring combinations. This trend embraces opulence, drama, and extravagance in every piece of jewelry, from oversized waterfall earrings dripping with crystals to chunky chains adorned with various gemstones. Layering, mixing metals, and experimenting with bold colors and textures are key elements of this trend, allowing you to express your unique personality and creativity through your jewelry choices.

Heritage Showcase

Speaking of trends that help you express your personality, 2024 is the year of showcasing your heritage and culture, Irish earrings being the best example. These earrings feature ancient Celtic symbols of good luck, wealth, and love that can make any Irish feel more connected to their ancestry even if they are thousands of miles away from the homeland. Whether you prefer classy silver designs or charming 14k gold earrings adorned with emeralds, take a look at https://www.gaelsong.com/prod_detail_list/jewelry-celtic-earrings to find a piece that works best for you. These earrings will definitely draw all the attention to your face and are sure to become conversation starters.

Nature-Inspired Designs

Nature has always served as one of the biggest influences for the beauty world, and jewelry is no exception. This year, you can make your outfits look cooler and more connected to nature by adding a delicate floral bracelet, a necklace with a leaf pattern, or an anklet with earthy toned-gemstones. These enchanting pieces capture the essence of the outdoors and make you feel serene even in the middle of a bustling city. To take a step further, you can also look for jewelry that incorporates real flowers and leaves in resin, as they will look even more chic and interesting.

Romantic Renaissance

Hyperfemininity is one of the biggest trends of this year, and the jewelry world could not be left behind. The Romantic Renaissance trend is all about charm and sophistication that evokes the grandeur of the bygone era. Ornate filigree rings, intricately carved cameos, and pendant necklaces – all these pieces are a must for your flowy maxi dresses and ruffled shirts. Thrift shops and vintage markets are great places to look for such jewelry, but you can also take a look in your grandma’s jewelry box to find some amazing pieces that will 100% match the trend.

The Lucia Dress- A Bookish Dream come to life.

A couple of months ago I was approached by Topsy Curvy (whose dresses I love) and asked if I wanted to design a print for their two way skater dress as part of a blogger collection.

OF COURSE I SAID YES!!!

Once the initial excitement calmed down I was trying to think what a Lucia dress would look like. I have ADHD and my interests vary a lot and change frequently so I didn’t want to focus my print on a current fixation, like Lego or plants with pretty variegation. I wanted to design a print that was true to who I am and who I have always been so in years from now when I look back on that time my print was on dress it will still feel very ME.

Why books on a dress you may ask

I love to immerse myself in worlds that are not my own and that comes from being a bibliophile since I was able to first recognise words. Books are an escape that I personally feel cannot be matched. I have always and will always love books so why not chuck them all over a dress! My mum encouraged quiet reading time for me every night before bed, it started out as 30 minutes every night usually during Eastenders and when I heard the ending theme song I knew I only had til the end of that chapter before reading time was over.

She always made sure I had new books when I wanted them, she would take me to the library whenever I was done reading my stash and wanted something new to get into. Something I loved was that she never tried to push me in any direction when it came to me choosing what books I wanted to read. I will forever be grateful for her nurturing and encouraging my love of books.
Anyway I say all that to say that it had to be books, nothing else would have felt quite as right.

When it came to choosing the main colour of the dress is was easy, I wanted mustard for the autumnal vibes and also because mustard looks amazing on deeper skin tones. I have always loved the way mustard looks on me and also how it adds a little muted sunshine to the moody earth tone vibes of Autumn.

Thus we have ‘Lucia’ The bookish princess is dress form. I love it, my mum would have loved it and I truly hope everyone else loves it too!

So, enough about my print, I was lucky enough to work along side three other bloggers to create the blogger collection. I have linked the bloggers below so you can check out their IG accounts if you don’t already follow them you should. @debzlouiseblog@georginagrogan_ and @jellywtbelly

All of the dresses are available to purchase here on the Topsy Curvy website. if you want to get your very own bookish dress or another one of the blogger prints that’s where you need to be.

These dresses are available fitting all the way up to a size 38 and starting at a size 16. This is why I couldn’t think of a better brand to work with, the inclusive size range is one to be proud of. I’m so happy I was able to bring a little part of myself to something that’s available to people at the high end of plus size like myself.

We each came up with very different prints and I love that there is something for everyone regardless of your personal style. I would love to know which dress is more your style or what print you would have chosen for a dress.

Pick 1 or 2 of the VERY best this season

It’s party time!

It’s that time of year again, when there are events to go to almost every weekend. Halloween has past and the festivities for the Christmas season are well underway.

As always in many years past you cannot go wrong with a little black dress and I for one don’t think you can ever have too many dresses that fit that spec. I do however think that the picture ones mind creates when thinking about a little black dress will be different for everyone. Some people will choose dresses based on the time of year, the specific occasion and some will focus on what they want to accentuate on their body. There is no right or wrong answer, the little black dress you choose will be and do exactly what you wanted it to do.

There are not many people, however, that imagine a little black dress to be something you thrown on when it’s cold outside or something you grab when you just want to put on something cosy and comforting. This year when I was looking for a black dress that I could wear to a family party or on Christmas day at my house for dinner I knew I wanted something that I would be comfortable in all day and if I choose to visit family members throughout the afternoon I would be warm.

It may be a sign of me getting up in age but that was the first thing that came to mind when looking through the Very website at the perfect black midi dresses. I wanted a dress that wouldn’t just sit in the wardrobe all year once the festive season was over, something that I could dress up or down all year round and really get some use out of it. I thought it would be a good opportunity to play around with styling and making a outfit that turns heads using a very simple wardrobe staple black midi jumper dress.

I put together an entire outfit using all items from the Very website and I absolutely love the whole look. I chose accessories that would compliment but also elevate the very simple black midi jumper dress. It may not be everyone’s style but it is very me and I love it. I stuck with every neutral tones as I didn’t want to go overboard with colour because I have green hair and love a classic red lip.

I knew I would want the star of the show, after the dress, to be my handbag so I teamed the outfit with the Marc Jacobs mini tote bag in the colour Khaki, its a stunning bag and again an item that can be worn with so many different outfits and all year round. Don’t get me wrong I love a bit of glitz and sparkle but sometimes I like to keep things understated with the outfit and bring the glitz and glam with my makeup and accessories.

I have the really beautiful faux sherling longline gilet so when I saw this adorable beige teddy headband I knew it would be a great match and I was right. I kept the accessories simple with the headband and silver mini hoops.

very accessories

Another reason I love this outfit is because it displays just how easy it is to take a simple everyday wardrobe staple and let it be the foundation to a great going out look, you don’t always have to break the bank or buy something new especially if you’re going on a spontaneous evening out.

I love a cute shoe as much as the next girl but again I went for style and practicality with the sock lace up boots from Yours on the very site. I now have two pairs of these boots because I have never been able to find boots that fit my calves at this size. The sock portion as a lot of stretch which makes them super comfortable.

If you like this look let me know in the comments, and if there is something you would change, let me know that too!

From YOURS to the festive party, 2 pieces.

I post about Yours Clothing fairly regularly and there are a couple of reasons for that, firstly they always seem to hit, its seldom I come across a miss with this brand. secondly they are one of the few UK brands that stock up to a UK size 40!!!! this is always be a reason for me to support them.

Not only do they stock up to a size 40 but they have options, It’s not the odd piece that you’re lucky enough to stumble across that will fit, they have made sure to have a large selection of items in the top sizes across all categories on their website. As someone at the top end of plus size this means the world!

A Great Christmas Party Dress 2 ways

I was really kindly offered a piece from Fashion Worlds dress selection and as I already had my eye on a beautiful sequin AX Paris Curve dress it wasn’t difficult for me to choose.

ax dress

I was so excited when it came and I was not disappointed at all. Its such a beautiful piece. I like the fact that the sequins are not super shiny which means I don’t look like a disco ball and would be happy to wear it any time of the year.

The AX Paris Black Sequin Prom Dress is the perfect fun and flirty party piece.
I thought  would team this review up with a ‘ways to wear’ post so I have styled this dress two different ways.

I first kept it really simple with sheer black tights and cute black kitten heels from yours.

I wouldn’t be able to wear this bare legged as it comes up quite short on me so I tried it on with a pair of sheer tights and I think it looked really cute.

I am very clumsy with tights especially since I have stiletto nails… the two don’t really work hand in hand together so I tend to stay away from tights.. this was confirmed a good idea when I laddered them putting them on

laddering my tights provided the perfect opportunity for me to find an alternative way to wear this dress as I know after a couple of drinks and going to the ladies room my tights would be left in shreds.

The dress, look two

I reached for a faithful friend, a pair of leggings, which I think was perfect since the weather is so cold and there is no chance of me ripping them with my nails. I wore the dress with black leggings and my Camden boots from new look with a big chunky gold necklace from Primark. This was a much more comfortable look.
New look Biker Jacket.

I personally prefer the ‘Rocked up’ version of this, I think it all depends on what you feel comfortable in but I do think there are many ways to wear this dress as its another take on a Little Black Dress and is a really nice addition to my wardrobe as I have nothing else like it.

What are you guys wearing this party season?

*this is a repost from some years ago but is still very relevant for this upcoming party season. Unfortunately this specific dress is no longer for sale .

I found the 1! Manners London; the best dress.

Manners London will have you questioning your whole life I swear.

Wearing such a large clothing size I used to often feel like I should be happy with what I can get and I felt that way for a long time. I would make do with items just because they fit on my body. As the plus size clothing options have continued to grow and grow in recent years, I have been able to pick and choose what I wear based on more than just whether it fits and is suitable to the weather or specific occasion.

Manners London

Manners London is a company I had not heard of until very recently and as happy as I am to know about them now, I wish I had heard of them sooner because they make beautiful, wonderfully made clothes for EVERY BODY!

So Mushroom in this dream dress. A review

It’s been a long long time since I’ve raved about a dress, so if there has ever been a time to listen to what I say…. This is it!!

If I was asked to think up my dream dress I would ask for a midi length to hit just below my knees, I would want sleeves, either shirt sleeves or ¾ length. I would want a material on the heavier side so it’s not blowing all over the place and so that I wouldn’t have to wear a jacket. I would ask for fun prints because obviously!
I would want a skater shape because that’s what I like the most on my body and I like the casual look. I would want pockets, again because OBVS. I would want it to be affordable because I would want at least a few and most importantly I would want it to come in a large range of sizes because there is nothing worse than finding a dress you absolutely love and then learning they don’t make it in your size.

I have found that dream dress!!!!

Travelling while plus size

I am at the higher end of plus size , wearing a UK size 30/32 . This was always something that was a deterrent when it came to even thinking about flying to go on trip. Some of the things I’m going to mention will not apply to all plus size travellers but those of you at the high end of plus size, like me may find these tips useful.

My top 5 tips for peace of mind when preparing to travel plus size

*Call the  airline ahead of time with any questions and queries you may have. In my experience the airline advisers are very helpful and they will happily share information that might help put your mind at ease.

*Tell the staff what you need. The last time I flew I was concerned about the size of the onboard bathroom size as my flight was over 10 hours long, I explained that and I was allowed to board the plane early to pop to the bathroom and have a wiggle around in there so I had of mind for the entire flight that there was enough space for me in there.

*If you think you may need a seat belt extender on the plane and you are worried about asking the flight attendant for one in earshot of a plane full of people you can always buy your own online and carry it with you on your trip.

*Call ahead and make sure your accommodation is suitable for you if this is something that worries you. I have stayed in budget bed and breakfast accommodation all across the UK and have had to struggle carrying my luggage to top floors and its not fun. I always like to call ahead and if there is no lift I like to request a low level floor where possible.

*Google image search is your friend. I do this when I travel but also when I am home. If I am planning on going somewhere I’ve never been before or going to do an activity I haven’t done before  will always Google image search the location. I like to have a rough idea of what the seating will be like just so I don’t turn up somewhere that I’ve been really looking forward to going or put a lot of planning into or travelled ridiculously far to get to only to find that their seating doesn’t accommodate my big butt or spend the whole day uncomfortable.

Whatever it is that would make you feel more comfortable or give you more peace of mind and allow you to enjoy travelling, then that’s what you need to do. Everyone deserves a stress free holiday.

The last time I flew was to Vegas last year but I have also been to Florida a few times. So far I have always had easy trips because I am happy to be open with airlines and flight attendants about my concerns (even though I get myself worked up for nothing) and I have much better flights for it.

Holiday Gems fly out to a number of destinations, including one of my favourite places to go, Florida! It’s been a couple of years since I went the last time but it is definitely somewhere I ill be visiting again. The site is fantastic and allows you to book flights, hotel, package deals and all inclusive holidays with low deposits and flexible payments available. They even have an onsite blog if you need destination inspiration before deciding where you want to go.

If you’re wanting to get away I would definitely shop around and find the best Holiday and package for you and don’t let size stand between you and what could be another great life experience.

Yours Clothing Maxi Dress

If you follow me anywhere at all on social media you’ll know that I have been loving this maxi dresses from Yours Clothing. They are so comfortable and easy to wear.IMG_20171013_160743_253

As you can see I literally throw them on with various jackets (which I mix and match depending on how I feel) and I’m out the door.

Also…. THEY HAVE POCKETS?

I’m a little bit obsessed with dresses with pockets so I love these.

I just wanted to drop in quickly and show you one of my fave dresses for when you want to be casual and don’t know what to wear. IMG_20171013_162038_115Do you have any go to items that always make you feel good? If so what at are they?

Curve fashion festival.

The Curve Fashion Festival in partnerships with New Look is in it’s third year this year and is set to be a huge event in the plus size fashion community once again. This will, however, be my first time attending and I can’t wait. As a plus size blogger I really look forward to attending fashion based events to see what the plus size brands have in store for us in the coming seasons and getting to pop to various stands to have a looks a pieces on the market from smaller brands that I may not have heard or heard of just being able to touch and try on items that are usually only available online. For me these events are the best opportunity to see friends and fellow bloggers from all over the country that I don’t get to see very often and events like TCFF get us all in one  place at the same time and it’s always a great time.

This year returning to Curve Fashion fest will be Tess Holliday.

tess-holiday

The UK’s largest plus size fashion event The Curve Fashion Festival in partnership with New Look is delighted to announce the return of Plus Size Model Tess Holliday.

Tess Holliday will be doing a book signing of the new book The Not So Subtle Art of Being a Fat Girl alongside an audience Q&A.

Looking at this years sponsors and supporters, one of the event supporters Debenhams stood out to me because it isn’t who I first think of when I’m looking for plus size women’s fashion but they have a huge range of plus size clothes for women, being a plus size woman who loves fashion I thought I would give them a mention. Debenhams plus size women’s range currently has over 3500 items from a number of brands from Evans and Studio 8 to Scarlett & Jo so I would definitely say worth having a look at next time you’re looking for something new.

Have you been to TCFF before and will I be seeing you there this weekend? what are you looking forward to the most??? let me know!
