A couple of months ago I was approached by Topsy Curvy (whose dresses I love) and asked if I wanted to design a print for their two way skater dress as part of a blogger collection.
OF COURSE I SAID YES!!!
Once the initial excitement calmed down I was trying to think what a Lucia dress would look like. I have ADHD and my interests vary a lot and change frequently so I didn’t want to focus my print on a current fixation, like Lego or plants with pretty variegation. I wanted to design a print that was true to who I am and who I have always been so in years from now when I look back on that time my print was on dress it will still feel very ME.
Why books on a dress you may ask
I love to immerse myself in worlds that are not my own and that comes from being a bibliophile since I was able to first recognise words. Books are an escape that I personally feel cannot be matched. I have always and will always love books so why not chuck them all over a dress! My mum encouraged quiet reading time for me every night before bed, it started out as 30 minutes every night usually during Eastenders and when I heard the ending theme song I knew I only had til the end of that chapter before reading time was over.

She always made sure I had new books when I wanted them, she would take me to the library whenever I was done reading my stash and wanted something new to get into. Something I loved was that she never tried to push me in any direction when it came to me choosing what books I wanted to read. I will forever be grateful for her nurturing and encouraging my love of books.
Anyway I say all that to say that it had to be books, nothing else would have felt quite as right.

When it came to choosing the main colour of the dress is was easy, I wanted mustard for the autumnal vibes and also because mustard looks amazing on deeper skin tones. I have always loved the way mustard looks on me and also how it adds a little muted sunshine to the moody earth tone vibes of Autumn.
Thus we have ‘Lucia’ The bookish princess is dress form. I love it, my mum would have loved it and I truly hope everyone else loves it too!

So, enough about my print, I was lucky enough to work along side three other bloggers to create the blogger collection. I have linked the bloggers below so you can check out their IG accounts if you don’t already follow them you should. @debzlouiseblog, @georginagrogan_ and @jellywtbelly

All of the dresses are available to purchase here on the Topsy Curvy website. if you want to get your very own bookish dress or another one of the blogger prints that’s where you need to be.
These dresses are available fitting all the way up to a size 38 and starting at a size 16. This is why I couldn’t think of a better brand to work with, the inclusive size range is one to be proud of. I’m so happy I was able to bring a little part of myself to something that’s available to people at the high end of plus size like myself.
We each came up with very different prints and I love that there is something for everyone regardless of your personal style. I would love to know which dress is more your style or what print you would have chosen for a dress.
