When you want to be the super grandparents, the wicked uncle or the best gift giving aunt, you tend to overthink when trying to find the perfect Christmas gifts for your loved ones. Sometimes I find it makes things a lot simpler to just ask…
A conversation with my five year old niece…
“Kady, what do little girls want for Christmas?”
“New toys”
“Yeah I kinda figured, but what kind of new toys?”
“Lots of new toys?”
“Okay Kady, I’ll figure this out myself. Thank you for all your help”
“You are welcome Auntie”
And sometimes asking yields no results at all haha
No joke, this is how the conversation went with my niece when I called her to ask for some ideas on what she may want for Christmas this year. Her older siblings were much more help thankfully and had a whole list of things they want.
This is why Wicked Uncle has the perfect set up to shop for young children, you can shop by age range!
Whether you’re an aunt or not shopping for Christmas gifts for children isn’t always the easiest, in fact, shopping any time of the year can be tough. I find buying for babies and really young children can be pretty simple and then older kids usually have an idea of what they want or their personalities are developed enough that you already have a decent grasp of what they are into. Having a large family, what I have always struggled with is getting gifts for the kids who are around five to about eight or nine years old.
Christmas shopping Online Makes Things Easy
I really like websites like Wicked Uncle that make it easy to find exactly what you are looking for if you know, alternatively you can browse their whole website, their toy pages are also broken down into different sections. This means you can easily search for the appropriate age gifts and if you’re someone that shops by gender there is an option for that too. So you can sit and browse a list of gifts that you know are going to be suitable. For those that aren’t up to date with the latest toy trends and what toys are good for different ages, this really does help to make gift shopping a doddle.
Being that I am a creative person by nature I’m usually drawn to creative gifts, especially when shopping for the children in my family. Not only is it a great way to keep them entertained it also presents an opportunity to use it as a way to spend time with them doing something they enjoy. Bonding time like this is priceless, you get to create something they will keep for a while and also create memories they will keep forever.
Wicked Uncle have a huge selection of things to choose from that all make amazing gifts whether you like the creative ones like me or if you want to get something with a more educational focus or you just want something that is straight up fun!
I know that when shopping for younger members of my family it really does take the pressure off when I can be sure that what I am gifting them is something that is suitable for their age and abilities. Of course, I also speak to them and their parents about their likes so I can get inspiration on what sort of presents they’re going to get the most joy out of, after all that is what Christmas is all about!
Other Tips
One thing I have learned about shopping for Christmas is that leaving things to the last minute generally means extra stress. Does that mean I won’t be shopping in late December for gifts for the big day? Probably not! However, shopping online really does help with that these days. For example, Wicked Uncle offers both delivery within 2 working days and next-day delivery; so I have peace of mind that even if I continue to be a little unorganised they’ll have my back when it comes to being able to shop for the little ones; which is great news!
Do you have any other good gift ideas for young children? you can never have too many options as the birthdays will be round before you know it.
