Make working out more fun with fashion

As the weather has started to improve I have been making more of a effort to get out and walk more.

I know it sounds silly but one thing that makes me a little more interested in doing more exercise is having cute workout clothes and to honest anything that makes me want to do more can only be a positive. I personally need to increase my daily activities since I was diagnosed with asthma.

When I am taking walks, whether its just me or with the dogs, around my local area I still like to look nice, I’m new to the area so it’s nice to get out and see the lay of the land.

When I’m getting ready to go for a walk I always grab a pair of black leggings and an oversized tee.  Because I have plantar fasciitis, the footwear I choose is the most important part, the last couple of years I have been sticking to New Balance and I’m on my third pair because they are so comfortable but I recently realised that I haven’t tried any other brands that claim to be good and supportive walking/running shoes. Skate Hut

I recently got myself a pair of Nike Roshe runs and they are absolutely fantastic! just like the new balance I find they don’t aggravate the plantar fasciitis and they are definitely more my style than the new balance. Not only that but I find that the nikes are a little more supportive and don’t put any strain on my ankle.

20150124_105512 20150201_130046These are the new balance that I wear most often when I know I will be walking a lot.

20170504_142623These are my brand new Nike Roshe runs that I’m adoring at the moment and are my go to shoe when walking any distance and so far they have served me well.

When you’re my size and wanting to work out I would say footwear might just be the most important element when looking at sportswear.

All items in the post have been paid for by me and all opinions are my own, post in is collaboration with Skate Hut.

Breast embrace with Elomi

So if you have been reading my blog or following my social media and haven’t noticed …I have a pretty large bust and I’m always looking for good bras to give me the support I need. Finding a brand that caters to my 46K bust and also caters to my budget isn’t easy.

A few brands offer option in  very large sizes but they are often not very pretty bras and/or they are soft cup and I prefer a good amount of scaffolding to support the girls.

I have tried an Elomi bra before and I absolutely love it, I have to wear a bra extender on all the bras I wear because I like wearing cute bras.

The two bras I am showing you are in a 42K and I wear one stretch extender. I love these bras because they are literally like a boobie cuddle, I have had so many bras that my breast does not sit comfortably in, giving the appearance of quad boobs and all round excess spillage.

The Caitlyn

I find the Caitlyn to be a great every day bra, it offers me great support and the soft wide straps add an extra level of comfort

The Carmen

The Carmen is absolutely gorgeous! this one has a mocha detailing which matches my skin tone and makes me look a little bit naked (which I love lol). I don’t have any other bras like this one so its one of my new special bras that I wouldn’t wear on a normal day. It’s also a little lower cut in the bust and gives great cleavage in tops.IMG_20170428_161613

This post is in collab with Elomi Lingerie, a brand that can handle my whoppers and I’m oh so grateful.

My big busted sisters…where do you get your bras from, any suggestions as to where I can get some cute large bras? please comment below

The Purrrfect Dress

One of my most ‘liked’ pictures  on my instagram is me in the mustard Lyra dress, it is by far my favourite dress so when Lady Voluptuous released some new prints I was very excited, especially when I saw they had a cat print! The elegance of the Lyra style and a quirky print make for the most amazing dress and I had to have it.

It’s really cold here at the moment so I wore leggings underneath and put on some little tan boots to keep warm, having long sleeves on this dress helped with that too.

The dress

There really isn’t much I can say about the dress except that it’s another stunning Lyra and once again Lady V London and Lady Voluptuous have done great!

This dress was very kindly gifted to me, the opinions in this post are all my own.

I want to Simply Be comfortable.

I love dressing up and wearing fancy dresses but when I’m shopping I’m usually looking for cute items that I am comfortable in and can wear on a daily basis.

I wanted a couple of new items that I could wear with leggings and trainers and still be really cute. They are definitely my favourite buys as I get much more wear out of them than I would a party dress. Screenshot_20160928-124753

This is the Jameela Jamil off the shoulder dress. it is definitely a more fancy day time dress which I like and would be a great piece to transition from day to evening if you had drinks after work etc.

This one has no stretch in the fabric and is a little tight on my tummy but still absolutely wearable for me. Screenshot_20160928-124732 Screenshot_20160928-124717This one i love more than life, you know when you find an item and the fit is just perfect and its the most comfortable thing ever…. well this is that for me. its the Multi print jersey babydoll dress. On a normal day I like to be as comfortable as I can and this dress feels great, such an easy piece to wear and a really cute ditsy floral print.

Both of these dresses are listed as Simply be Party Dresses but they are definitely more day to day dresses for me.  I am very much into wearing whatever makes you feel good and what suits your lifestyle and dresses like these are just perfect for me and mine.

My Time is Valuable!

Really quick post to show you guys a little something I bought recently..

Naomi of Diamonds & Pearls in collab with XL.Promodoro created a really cute slogan tee with a really good message. If you want to find out more about the idea and what it means to her, have a look at Naomi’s post here.

I’m going to leave you with some pics of me looking cute in my tee 🙂

New ways to shop. (via lovethesales.com)

There are a lot of sites popping up that give you access to multiple shopping sites in one place and I think its a great way to shop. As someone at the higher end of plus size, I very rarely even look at websites that don’t carry plus size items so I miss out on a lot of accessory items available from those places.  I heard about a site called LoveTheSales and I thought I’d check it out to see of they had any plus size brands and to my surprise they do! This is always a pleasure to see as we are so often forgotten. Being able to shop for clothes and have access to non clothing items from brands that do not cater their clothing to plus size people, provides more opportunities to create great outfits.

They have items up to a size 32 available through the Simply Be Sale and also include other big name plus size brands including but not limited to Dorothy Perkins, Studio 8, Junarose and Frock and Frills curve.

I remember in my late teens going shopping with my friends to big shops like topshop and only being able to look at the bags and accessories and always being really bitter about it and subconsciously just counting it as a store that just isn’t for me but while browsing  the lovethesales site I found myself constantly drawn to items in the Topshop Sale, specifically the handbags. The Topshop sale is incredible with massive reductions, I keep filling my basket with so many bags and then closing the window like a form of modern torture lol.

I just think it makes shopping more fun. A huge variety, and a lot more brands that you may not have ever heard of before, much more accessible. Definitely worth checking them out if your looking to put together an outfit or just want to shop a whole load of sales in one place.

Freestyling summer dresses.

I’m off on holiday to Vegas tomorrow morning and I have been looking for good stand alone pieces that need no accessories to be beautiful.  As bloggers people often look to us for styling tips and ideas, something I do a lot in summer is rely on the beauty and features of the item I’m wearing to be the star.

I picked this beautiful and super bright summer dress from JD Williams because the ruffle feature becomes the focal point and I don’t have to faff about with too much accessorising, When I’m on holiday and even in the British summer I find extra layers and fiddly jewellery an annoyance.

So my biggest tip for styling in summer would be to pick some bold colours and/or bold prints or even items with fun details on them so you don’t have to style them if you don’t want to.IMG_20160708_163454something else that is a massive contributor to great summer looks but is  a lot harder to come by than a pretty dress is CONFIDENCE! In this dress I have legs out, arms out, VBO and a whole ton of confidence. I have absolutely no desire to be baking in the summer sun all covered up and feeling uncomfortable and this dress is far too cute for me to want to hide it.

I’m obsessed with simple outfits and comfy shoes, especially during the summer months because for me comfort and cuteness is key.  Simply be have a huge range of summer dresses up to a size 32 and are so worth checking out.

You Can Wear A Little Luxury

You Can Wear A Little Luxury

Over recent years the plus size fashion has really improved when it comes to fast, high street fashion.  I have also noticed an increase in choice when it comes to styles such as vintage fashion and even bridal wear. However in my opinion, we’re still lacking a little.

For example luxury wear is something that I still struggle to find. Don’t get me wrong I don’t have the budget to be shopping for luxury items all the time but it would be nice to have the option to shop for items if and when I felt like it. That is why I got excited when I was offered the chance to write for David Nieper and saw that they offer exclusive silk dresses. Honestly speaking lots of their items wouldn’t fit me but the fact that they do up to a size 28 is great news. plus size silk dresses

In fact I do sometimes fit into size 28 items so rather than saying ‘U Can’t Wear That’, I’d like to try some of the items at one stage and see how myself and my body could make them work.  As I am sure you have seen from previous social media and blog posts I often make smaller items work so I am pretty confident I could do the same here!

Not going to lie, I love comfy clothes and pyjamas when I am at home. I enjoy dressing up when I am out of the house, but at home I love comfort. I like the idea of doing this in luxury ladies dressing gowns, because then I get to feel dressed up whilst feeling comfortable. David Nieper do these up to a size 28, so they’d be fun to try! luxury plus size dressing gown

If you’re a size 28 or under then I can only recommend that you give this brand a try. They’re a new one on me, but one that I’ll definitely be checking out sometime in the not to distance future. They’re not 100% my style – they come across as a more mature style than I am used to wearing, but it’d be fun to see what I could do with them.

Even if these items don’t fit me, I felt it was important to introduce them because I know often I assume I can’t wear certain type of items because of being plus size – and I love being proved wrong!

Simply be swimwear wishlist

I’m off on my holiday in 3 days so I’ve been doing a lot of shopping for plus size swimwear. Simply be has been a huge surprise to me as they have a huge range of swimwear and beach wear. Usually I will go to a site, go to the swimwear section and the then once I’ve filtered by size I’m not left with my choice. To my surprise simply be had the most items available in the top size range than any other vendor I tried in the UK. I was very impressed and these are some of my favourite pieces;

IMG_20160706_091757

1. Beach cover up
2.  Beach playsuit
3. Palm bikini top
4. Palm bikini bottom
5. polka dot swimsuit

Looking back at my wishlist items now in just realised that they are all monochrome lol which makes me giggle because when I’m on holiday I use it as an opportunity to play with bright colours which is obviously not reflected here. I stand by my top picks though as they are all gorgeous pieces.

I’m not shy when I go on holiday and can often be found in a bikini simply be had many bikinis available and something I found really useful and impressive is that they have bikini tops in clothes sizes as well as ones by bra size. Having a K cup and a large back makes it near on impossible trying to find a bikini top to fit so I was able to buy bikini tops in a size 32.

I have some lovely pieces from their range and these are just some more that I would love to add to my collection.

Thanks for reading x

reuse that xmas party dress.

I was asked by George at Asda to do a really interesting style post that I thought could be really useful to people so I jumped at the chance.

I was asked to take a dress that I would wear to a Christmas party and then restyle the dress so it was suitable for something else. I wear a size 32 and I didn’t find dresses in my size that I would wear to a party so I checked the size down, then the size down again, and again etc til I found a gorgeous dress in a SIZE 24!!! that I would wear to a party. Now I know my body very well and I have a good idea of what I will and wont be able to get on. I thought the size 24 was going to be a push but I didn’t want to do the post unless it was something that I would actually wear.

What it was and what it became:IMG_20151223_151003_resized

The fit of the dress on its own may not be for everybody but there are certain places I would definitely wear it on its own (and plan to) but I love that the dress is tight enough that it is completely comfortable worn with the skirt and doesn’t feel like you have a whole dress on underneath.

I chose to restyle the dress to make it suitable work attire and I think I did a pretty good job. I was very happy with the second look and will definitely be wearing it all together again.

I was able to create the second look with the blazer, the shoes and the bag all being George at Asda pieces.

I’m going to leave you  with a couple of pictures of the work wear look and links to all the items.
