Plus size in the House! (of Fraser)

Last month I was contacted by House of Fraser about their plus size options on the website and I am so glad they did. I had no idea that House of Fraser stocked plus size clothes and on visiting their website was pleasantly surprised at just how many items there were available in my size.

House of Fraser offer a number of different plus size brands in their Plus Size Section from Evans, Scarlett & Jo and Samya to higher end brands like Grace.

A picked two items from the website that I really like and knew I would wear a lot. I went for a really nice and casual midi skirt with pockets and a pink check babydoll dress both from Evans.

20141125_181256 20141125_181317

I didn’t really have a choice when it came to the skirt because it has pockets, I am a little bit obsessed with skirts with pockets, Its just a really nice everyday skirt that can be worn with not much thought and  love pieces like that so it was an obvious choice.

20141125_190201 20141125_190434

I chose the baby-doll dress because of the shape, I love this shape dress on my body and the pink is a colour I don’t ever wear so I thought it was a good opportunity to have something a little but different.

20141125_194042

I wore the dress for an evening out for dinner with friends and finally got a change to take my unicorn clutch out for the night, I had had it for quite a while and have been dying to take her out!

House of Fraser have a lot to offer in the way of plus size clothing and I think its definitely worth checking them out for a wide range of options all under one roof.

Tulle skirt around!

A few weeks ago this beautiful skirt was brought to my attention.

hmprod (2)

I knew I wanted it immediately. I have never bought anything from the H&M plus size department before so I didn’t know much about their sizing but that wasn’t going to stop me. Between placing the order and the skirt actually arriving I heard from many people that H&M items come up really small so I started to get a little worried.  The only thing that was going for me was that the skirt had a a stretch waist band and also that the lining was a jersey fabric.

PicsArt_1418035260436

The skirt took quite a while to be despatched and also took a bit of time to be delivered (which again is something H&M seem to be known for) but once the skirt arrived i was happy to forgive all sins because it was my dream skirt.

20141207_164243

The skirt is literally perfect for me. If it has a cotton lining it would likely be too tight and also if it has a non-stretch waistband it probably would not have fit. I wear a UK size 30/32 and I got this skirt in the largest size (3XL) and the skirt fit like a dream.

20141207_162724

Not only is it a stunning skirt I love the ribbon waist band it catches the light beautifully and adds that little something extra to the skirt.

20141207_16273020141207_164234

The skirt is so light and floaty and the movement is beautiful yet the jersey lining will always protect your modesty.

20141207_162023

I wore the skirt with the ASOS Curve cami with wrap front, this is what it looks like untucked from the skirt but I much prefer it tucked in.

My shoes are old Primark wide fit open toe flats in nide with a bow and they are super cute and comfortable. I think this skirt would look great with a pair of heeled sandals too but I personally would not be able to walk far in them lol.

20141207_162718

My Cardigan is an old Evans one that I tend to throw on, on a summers evening, Although it is farrrrr from summer at the moment I wanted to wear something light so as not to take away from this beautiful skirt.

20141207_164130

My clutch bag is this one from ASOS which I received as a gift from my Access All ASOS Secret Santa, and it came just in time to be paired with this skirt which was quite handy 🙂

I think this skirt would look great as part of a more casual look also, which I plan to do very soon, which makes it a very versatile piece and I know I will get a lot of wear out of it. I think this skirt was a steal at £19.99 and if they had more colours I would be buying more for sure, Unfortunately this skirt is now out of stock in every size but I’m hoping they have seen just how popular it is and get more, LOTS MORE!

Missguided – #HeresWhatIWouldHaveSpent

Missguided…

Missguided have recently released a plus size range which is great but unfortunately they only stock items up to a UK size 24 which is absolutely no use to me at all.

Debz over at Wannabe Princess set up a blog challenge and got a group of plus size bloggers to think about what items they would have bought of the retailer in question stocked their size

Here’s what I would have spent if Missguided sold clothes in my size.

j3105271_natalie_06.10.14_mc_2427 s3105863_karmi_05.10.14_mc_92711_a s3105865_karmi_05.10.14_mc_92576_ak3106572_karmi_05.10.14_mc_92149

I am a big fan of the co ords in the new plus size range and if they had them in my size I would 100% have to snap one up, Probably the floral one as I have something similar to the check in a dress.

I love the jacket! There were a lot of khaki jackets with the faux leather sleeves last year and I bought a couple of those and I’m loving check prints at the moment so that jacket is right up my street.

The mustard jumper is just lush solely because mustard is my favourite autumn/winter colour in clothing, As I write this i am tempted to buy the jumper in the size 24 and wear it as a crop… hmm we’ll see.

But yeah, if Missguided stocked up to a 30/32 these are the items that I would already have bought.

If you are lucky enough to be able to shop from this range all the items i have shown are available on the Missguided website.

What would you have bought?

Are you ready for the party season? I am!

Its the start of December and in my eyes we have officially hit party season with so many festive events coming up I have been preparing all my outfits for each event.

Two weeks ago I received a Party Survival pack from Fashion World and I when I opened it I thought all the little items were such a good idea for party handbag essentials and it made me think about what other extras us ladies might need over the party season aside from the perfect dress and shoes.

I think my idea of what is essential in a night out bag maybe very different to some of you but I will let you know what my essentials are anyway…

Items I will not leave my house without when off on a night out, besides the obvious, keys and money etc;

  • Tissues
  • Lip balm and lipstick
  • Compact Mirror
  • Spare hairband
  • Comfy flats (How big is my bag, I know right!)

The Fashion World part survival pack consists of hair pins, hair spray, emery boards, vaseline and body tape. I love how small each of the items are so you can fit all, or whichever you need, comfortably into a small party bag.

20141201_210019

Fashion World have also created an online Party Season Survival Guide that is full of hints and tips and suggestions for ways to get through the party season without a hitch.

An item that I have been introduced to recently is Wingz, which when I first saw them I figured they would be every plus size woman’s dream.  No more falling in love with a dress and having to bypass it because it doesn’t have sleeves. Wingz have a wide range of arm covering piece that don’t effect the overall look of your outfit aside from covering your arms.  They have different lengths and materials so you don’t have to cover your entire arm if you don’t want to.

w3

They have plain stretch sleeves that can be worn with everyday outfits and loads of different material, colours and patterns to suit what you are looking for. Perfect for the party season they have more dressy Wingz to complement you party dresses. w1 w2

Personally I am a fan of the lace Wingz, I love a bit of lace! lol

20141201_114050 IMG-20141201-WA0013

*Excuse the makeupless face, I just wanted to show what the Wingz look like on me*

Half sleeve Wingz, Full sleeve Wingz

I love the lace Wingz, I love that I can cover my arms without covering up a pretty dress. I prefer the look of the long sleeve lace sleeves but the short sleeve ones are more comfortable for be because I have really large arms, I have however heard on the grapevine that they are going to being introducing a larger size (size 4) for trial in March next year which is very exciting news,

As you can see from the pics I have the short sleeved lace and the long sleeved lace Wingz, I’m thinking of getting the plain stretch Wingz so that I can wear more of my vest tops in the colder weather and just for throwing on under jumpers because I’m always cold.

These are something I wish I knew about a few years ago as I hated having my arms on display, they really are a great item to have as yo can literally wear them with anything.

I know I mentioned this a little earlier but I always carry a pair of comfortable flats in my handbag on a night out. I know some companies to small foldable shoes made specifically for carrying around with you but I always find them really uncomfortable. I have found that Primark always have sooooooo many cute little dolly shoes in these days and their wide fit section just keeps getting better and better.

IMG_0528
These are the Primark wide fit flats that I have most recently been chucking into my oversized clutch bags.

There must be a ton of places to pick up cute flats but for a pair that’s just for chilling in your handbag for ‘just in case’ times I think Primark is excellent for little cheapies.

Do you have any tips for me for the party season or anything a little bit different that you always keep on you just in case? I would love to hear them 🙂

*Wingz were very kindly gifted to me for review*

But first, let me take a CÉLFIE!

20141123_172210
But first, Let me take a Celfie

I have never really been a fan of having writing across my chest as I feel my boobs already draw the eye, but when Yours Clothing contacted me about this Celfie T-shirt I have to admit I was a little excited. I make a big deal about dressing out of societies comfort zone so I excited to spend my day with people reading my boobs and I discovered that I actually really like statement T-shirts and have already started looking for another one.

I am away in London for a week so my clothing options are limited so  pair this tee with my Scarlett & Jo prom skirt and use it as an opportunity to show the skirt really dressed down.

20141123_125926 20141123_125944

This is just a really quick post to show off the T-shirt, I surprisingly really love it. The fit is really nice too, It has a dipped back and a slight puff sleeve.  Available here if you want a better look.

20141123_172118 20141123_172124

I went to a plus size clothing swap in North London and then went to see my aunt to say Happy Birthday, drop off her present and of course for the abundance of food and cake! I then went on to meet some friends for drinks in town and stayed out til the wee hours and I got a lot of compliments on the outfit throughout the day.

My necklace was one that I picked up in the ASOS sale and this is the first time I’m wearing it but I really love that too.

Still blossoming in Winter.

Since Scarlett & Jo became available in Evans they have been producing item after item that I have lusted over. I, like everyone else on the planet fell in love with the infamous prom dress but by the time I was able to buy it everyone and their cat already had it. Then the prom skirts came out and I knew I had to have one. A little late to the party (or prom lol) again I now have a beautiful Scarlett & Jo prom skirt. They are still available HERE on the Evans website on sale and in three colours.I chose the purple because with winter approaching I wanted something that was dark enough to wear throughout the colder season but with the vibrant flowers it still stands out beautifully.

The skirt has an elasticated waistband and is so comfortable, I have on a size 30 and it fits great so you could easily size down if need be. The skirt has a built in tulle underskirt and feels so girly and ‘flouncy’ to wear. It really feels like a luxury piece when you have it on. I know with all my extra padding I shouldn’t need the help of tulle to fill out the skirt but it just makes it so pretty.

This is just going to be a really picture heavy post as the skirt is so gorgeous!

20141101_111940 20141101_111901 20141101_111606 20141101_112013

This is probably my favourite skirt at the moment and I can’t wait to see what Scarlett & Jo come out with next. They have some beautiful vintage jersey dresses in at the moment. Go check them out.

Thanks for reading x

In ca’boots’ with JD WIlliams.

Something I discovered very recently is that more and more brands are stocking wide fitting shoes,  some are even starting to cater to us ladies with super chunky legs with their vast range of calf width fittings, one of those companies being JD Williams.

I got a pair of boots from the wide fit shoe section of their website and I wanted to try a pair of long legged boots just to see if their largest calf size would be suitable for me. If you read my post on wide calf wellies you will know how much I have struggled over the years to find boots to fit my huge calves. JD Williams have a whopping seven calf widths to choose from in a selection of their boot; Slim, Standard, Extra large, Curvy, Super curvy, Curvy plus and Super curvy plus. I went for the Suer curvy plus as I know my legs are really really big and I wasn’t even confident that these would fit.

When the boots came I was really excited because laying them out on the floor the calf looked massive. You can find this pair HERE!

20141101_111703

20141101_111651  20141101_111713

I love the boots and this is the closest I have ever come to having a pair of everyday knee high boots fit. As you can see from the last picture the boots are still a little tighter around my calf than it should, be but this is purely down to the fact that I have huge legs (which I accept and embrace lol). But to my surprise the boots go on easily and are not uncomfortable in the slightest. I wore these boots for a few hours and I love them, they are super comfortable and easy to walk around town in. I will show you the boots again as part of my outfit;

20141101_111901

I will be blogging this outfit in my next post which should be up in the next two days x

*These boots were kindly gifted to me. However all views, positive and negative are my own*

The Stellar Estella

This is the dress my dreams are made of.

PicsArt_1415106156806

I have been on the hunt for a vintage style dress in my size for the longest time. I have come across a few but they have always been in a jersey fabric, which is fine when it comes to fast fashion but I wanted something that was going to last me years.

When I heard on the blogger grapevine that Lady V London were releasing a vintage dress in a number of prints in a size 30/32 I was over the moon.

The Estella Dresses are available here! and were designed by the gorgeous Georgina from Fuller Figure Fuller Bust

I bought the Estella in the black and white polkadot as I knew it would be very easy to style and I could wear it practically anywhere.

20141101_120808 20141101_12063520141101_12075820141101_120633

When the cupcake print Estella was released on the website I was literally screaming “Oh my God, Oh my God” Two of my favourite things combined just for me… Surely a gift from the Angels!!! I went on the site and bought the cupcake dress without a second thought… just look at it… I had to!

20141101_113727
Love how I can still look fierce in a cupcake dress lol

20141101_113842 20141101_114101 20141101_114126 20141101_113637

The Estella dresses are 97% Cotton and 3% Elastane,  the quality is so good and I feel like they are a total investment, I plan on taking really good care of the ones I have so they will last forever.  A problem I find being my size is that it is very difficult to find good quality clothes that are a good fit, I know the bigger I am the more my body will vary from someone else who wears the same dress size. The Estella Dress feels like it was made for my body, the little bit of elastane allows the dress to hug you in just the right places but still has enough structure to fit how it is meant to.

I am really hoping to see more of these dresses coming out and I would especially like to see the dress in some solid colours.

Lucia Laid Bare

I, like a lot of women, love to get all dressed up… prettying up my face and put on something cute.
I love experimenting with my hair and changing up my make-up looks to suit my mood/the occasion.
But I wanted to to a blog post that was basically just me stripped back from all the extras saying… Look, This is me… The real me.
No make-up and No extra hair

This is my natural hair, The hair that I was born with. No straightening techniques, no hair managing products, just my hair as it grows out of my head. I love braids and weaves and wearing my hair straight etc… but I also love my natural hair. My hair is big and wild and difficult to manage just like me!

I have poor vision so I need glasses, and I love those too lol, I like the way I look in glasses and  think everyone can look good in the right pair of frames. Day to day when I’m out running errands and such I don’t wear any make-up and I kind feel a bit like a fraud when in all my blog posts I’m all made up. So this blog post is just basically a short post showing you all the real me.

All the dressing up is so fun but I always strip back to ‘Me’ and have recently realised that that is just as great.

Also if anyone is interested in me doing any hair posts just let me know x

Taking Shape Vera Cardigan

A new piece from a new (to the UK) brand.

Taking Shape, an Austrailian plus size fashion retailer that are currently trying to establish themselves in the UK, kindly offered me a piece from their range for review.
Initially I was a little worried as they stock sizes 14-26 and I wear a size 30, I went onto their website to have a look at what might fit me. The first thing I noticed about the brand was how grown up and sophisticated the majority of their pieces are, they also have some beautiful prints and fabrics, I was on the look out for something that had some stretch so I had a chance of it fitting. I don’t really do sophisticated and I was happy to find they have some younger more casual pieces. I wanted to make sure I chose something that I would actually want to wear over and over again, a wardrobe staple if you like. One piece in particular that I kept going back to was the Vera Cardigan, it looked so warm and perfect for the weather we are having here in the UK.
My cardigan came speedily and beautifully packaged and I’m so happy it fits like a dream.

 Vera Cardigan

This is yet another example of how many more options we have than we think in terms of what we should and shouldn’t be able to wear. I love trying out new brands and expanding on the places that are available for me to shop in.

Gotta love a Cardi with a hood #justsaying

This is a such a great item to have and I’m so glad I chose it, I will be reaching for this cardigan over and over again this winter, Its also great for me as I love layering and this fits comfortably under my biker jackets.

I wore this outfit out shopping in oxford street. I have on a black roll neck jumper from Evans, a tube skirt from New Look, a pair of leggings and my comfy Primark winter boots.

I wore the cardigan again to meet up with a friend for a movie day, layered with a Pink Clove T-shirt and my New Look Biker jacket.

I got the Cardigan in a size XXL which I’m guessing is around a size 24/26, which again just shows that you are not to be fooled by sizing…. the only way to know is to try!
