Fitness and wellbeing as we age

There are some areas of my life which I have been thinking more and more about the older I get. Some things which I have subconsciously set into motion and others that I have decided will be good for me. I want to continue to look and feel as good as I do now when I’m a lot older so these are my plans for my physical wellness.

Fitness.

My plan is a simple one… do the things that make you feel good. I know, going forward, I need to be much more active than I am now. Going out for long walks isn’t something I enjoy while I’m doing it but I love the sense of pride and achievement that I get from doing something that gets me moving, Including dancing in my living room. Basically the little things, the things that aren’t too strenuous and should in turn be easier to keep going. Swimming… lots and lots of swimming, everyone who knows me, knows how much I love being in water so of course I’m in water as much as possible.

Since covid started people have been looking for more ways to stay active that doesn’t involve being in closed spaces surrounded by other people. For this reason outdoor activities are especially important and finding new ones can be the key to really enjoying getting some exercise. Whether you plan on taking up running, going down to the stables to try your hand at horse riding or if you’re just looking for new hiking trails, choosing activities that are based outdoors is definitely the way to go now.
I not only plan to work on my fitness but I also want to pay more attention to my medical health and the preventative things I can address to ensure future wellness.

Skin.

This is a simple one for me, I have always been very big on skincare and as I’m getting older I have totally revamped my skincare routine and even added a couple of anti aging steps. The brand I use the most products from are Clinque and The Ordinary. Eating well and drinking a lot of water will be very good for your skin so it’s a great habit to have as part of your daily routine.

Medical.

People with boobs… this is something I have never done but have been thinking more and more about lately, we need to get our breasts checked. I have a regular feel around to ease my mind but I am 37 years old now and have a ‘history’ in the family so I want to start having regular checks from a Dr and the only reason I haven’t gone up til now is that I have been nervous about getting my baps out but now that I have done it for a bra fitting I don’t think it will be that bad. This is something that plays on my mind quite often the older I get.
Also please please please go in for you scheduled pap smear test! I can’t stress the importance enough!

Trust me, I understand the nervousness involved, I do! but when faced with my life or being embarrassed, my life wins every time hands down. I am only 37 years old but there is no harm in taking better care of myself and preparing my body for the future.
