We all know the drill when it’s the school holidays, after endless snacks and fighting over the tv the kids start complaining they’re bored and you have to find ways to keep them entertained. This isn’t always easy, days out cost a lot of money, kids don’t all like doing the same things and you might not have any ideas about what to do. To make the most of the holidays and to stop the kids from complaining, here are 3 ways to be entertained during these school holidays.

Getting out of the House

There are many things you can do outside the house that doesn’t have to cost much money or are even free. Get out in the garden and make your fun, from teaching them some of your old favourite childhood games to setting up your own family sports day, there are plenty of things you can do to keep the kids active and having fun during the holidays. 

Explore your Local Area in the holidays

The first thing we would suggest is seeing what’s on in your local area. You may find free events you can attend, that won’t cost any money and will kill a few hours. Make the most of your local area and explore local parks or woodland areas. You can take a picnic, your bikes or scooters and make a day of it trying out a new stunt at the skate park with your new stunt scooter.

Although the kids may protest, most of them love being outside and in nature once you can convince them to leave the house. It’s also a good idea to check what local museums you have in your area; these are usually free to enter or ask for a small donation and are a great activity to do in the school holidays. If your kids enjoy being active check out if there are any clubs at the leisure centre these may cost a little more but kids will love doing activities with their peers and will have loads of fun. 

Staying in the House

If you can’t get out of the house during the holidays there are plenty of things you can do to keep the kids entertained whilst stuck inside. Most kids love being in front of the tv, so why not set up a home cinema? You can make it comfy with all the pillows and blankets and get your favourite snacks out. These are the sort of things that make great memories for the kids.

You could bake some cakes for friends and family or just as extras for the kids to eat during the holidays. Kids love getting involved in things like this and also creates lots of learning opportunities and quality time. If you want to get the kids away from the screens, then set up a board game night and have a night off from technology. You could even get the arts and crafts out and get the kids to design their own game to play together or even just enjoy making some different things as gifts for relatives.
