Legendary fashion designer, Kenzo Takada once said ‘fashion is like eating, you shouldn’t stick to the same menu’.
A lot of us have spent the past few months makeup-free and living in loungewear, so you’ve probably had some time to think about what you’re going to be wearing once life gets back to normal.
Transforming your look can be an exciting time, you get to experiment with new clothes, hairstyles and makeup to find your signature look.
These days, anything goes and women are free to dress to suit their own style and personality, rather than being overly concerned about the supposed ‘do’s and don’t’ of fashion.
Try Before You Buy
Finding your style can be expensive, so you want to be sure that you get it right. Luckily, modern technology has comet to the rescue again. There are a ton of great apps out there that will let you upload a photo and see what you look like with different hairstyles, hair colours, glasses and make-up. You can then visit website or store and pick up your pieces. That way you can be sure you’re going to look good before you spend all that money (or cut your hair off).
Fashion sites, like ASOS, are also starting to realise that women are different sizes, and allow you to select from a range of models who are of different heights and sizes. You can then see what an outfit looks like on someone who looks more like you.
Decide On Your Style Goal
It’s easier to look for inspiration if you know why you want to reinvent your style. You might want to look younger, more mature, professional, elegant, modern. Whatever the reason, just be sure you know what look you’re going for.
As boring as it sounds, you’re also going to have to be practical about some of your day to day looks and how they fir in with your life. It’s all very well wanting to look like you’re walking the red carpet at the Oscars every day, but that isn’t necessarily going to work at the office or when you’re shopping at the supermarket.
Create An Inspiration Board
Pinterest was made for things like this. Create your own mood board of looks, clothes, accessories and make-up. If you’re not sure where to start, look for pictures of celebrities you like the style of.
If you’re not that confident with hair and make-up, YouTube is filled with tutorials that will show you how to create any look you can think of.
This is also great for those people who don’t really have an eye for fashion and have difficulty pulling outfits together without some help.
