Yours Clothing the brand

I’ve talked about Yours Clothing many, many times here on my blog and over on my Instagram. I think they are one of the best companies in the UK for shopping if you are a size 30+ The amount of items they carry in the larger sizes is amazing and I can’t be more grateful.

Over the last few years plus size clothing has made leaps and bounds in terms of what is now available but for people at the higher end of plus size it is still a huge struggle to find clothes that fit, fit well, encapsulate your personal style and have room for you to size up if you want a more relaxed fit. These are things that are important to me as an item just fitting on my body is just not good enough.

The pieces I chose

This month I have been lucky enough to be able to wok with Yours Clothing again and share with you a couple of items that I chose to take me into Autumn.

The Dress

I am absolutely loving green at the moment so this dress was one i had my eye on for a little while once I had dyed my hair green. the length and the long sleeves make this dress a perfect addition to any autumn wardrobe. As soon as i saw it I knew I would want to pair it with boots and a lightweight jacket.

I really enjoy the length of this dress, I don’t need leggings or tights but it’s still not so long that you don’t get to appreciate the boots. In terms of the fit of the dress I have to be honest and say it was a little snug on the tummy when sitting down. I didn’t realise when ordering that the fabric has no stretch at all.

Luckily there is shirring in the upper back panel of the dress which was a life saver as this was the only reason I could hike my boobs into it. This stretch panel allows larger busted people the space to breathe and move freely. I love that Yours Clothing have given thought to this as it totally makes the difference of whether the item can work for a person or not at all.

This dress is obviously a favourite among the bloggers as Georgina posted about it recently and Debz also has the dress in the pink colourway. Make sure to check them both out so you can see the different colour dresses on different body types.

The boots

Usually as the weather starts to get colder I will look for a pair of ankle boots to get me through the winter. My calves are just too large to go for anything other than ankle height, it’s been that way for me for quite a while and that’s something I’ve accepted. My calves are not just a little too big for other height boots , there is a huge difference between plus size boot calf width fittings and the size of mine.

However, as i was looking through Yours Clothing looking for a pair of ankle boots I came across these Limited Collection chunky sock lace up boots. A large part of the body of the boot is mage from a thick stretch sock fabric, I figured this might be a good opportunity to try the and see how they go and if i was unsuccessful I could just return them for something I knew would work for my body type.

SHOCK!!!!! They only bloody fit! The first thing I did when I got over the shock and tried on the other side to make sure I wasn’t mistaken was call my best friend. My boot struggles are no secret to anyone who knows me, or even anyone that reads my blog so she was just as over the moon for me as I was for myself. I instantly started putting outfits together in my mind with pieces I have in my wardrobe and I’m looking forward to Autumn/Winter styling more than ever now.

The Jumper

Finally I chose this heart print jacquard knit jumper I couldn’t resist it because it’s absolutely adorable and who doesn’t need more jumpers for Autumn? I’m a sucker for anything really cutesy with heart or flowers on so this wasn’t even a question. They also have this jumper in a pink/red colourway and that one is really lovely too but I figured the black and white would work with so many more items in my wardrobe.

This jumper sadly only goes up to a size 34/36, which is fine for me and fits perfectly but it would have been nice to be able to size up for an oversized slouch look. I could have sized down so it would sit a little better over dresses or with a cute skirt but getting it in my actual size gives me a little more versatility in that sense.

Consensus

Overall I’m extremely happy with all three items I chose, as I knew I would be. I know the brand well as far as what sizes I need to fit what purpose. I size up and down depending on how I want to style certain items and it’s rare for Yours Clothing to disappoint. They are consistent with their sizing which I really appreciate and they keep up with current trends.

The star of my order and of this review is of course the boots, at the time of writing this I am still completely blown away that they have managed to have a pair of boot that have the flexibility to fit my lower calves and be comfortable but still be able to work on someone who has a smaller leg than me. They carry the style in an off white colour too which isn’t really for me but I am very tempted to buy a second pair as a backup as I don’t know when I will ever find magic boots like this again.

I will continue returning back to Yours clothing for as long as they make clothes I love in my size. There are not many brands catering up to a UK size 40 and in so many items and for this I love them.
